Drone Competition Lab invites ECIU students to join INSA Toulouse mechanical engineering students in designing and running a real drone competition for high-school students in the Occitanie region (France). Working in interdisciplinary teams, INSA students build the track and the car — the technical fundamentals and the mechanical design of the drones — and during the challenge, international students turn that into an actual race, adding the rules and the many details that make it a real competition. The drones integrate acoustic sensors for industrial noise monitoring, so teams need to define flight safety rules and build the competition's rulebook and scoring system — all with support from drone specialist Aktiseos. The result isn't a report sitting in a drawer: it's a hands-on event that puts teenagers in the cockpit of a real engineering challenge, sparking their interest in aeronautics, mechatronics and industrial innovation. For the ECIU students running it, this is project-based learning at its most concrete — translating lab-level know-how into something younger students can fly, test and compete with. A great fit for anyone who wants their engineering skills to have an audience beyond the classroom.
These are the teachers you'll work with on the challenge.
