Your mission is to design a drone competition that turns this real-world industrial challenge into an exciting engineering adventure for young competitors aged 12–16.

Working in international, interdisciplinary teams, you will become the creators of your own mission. Imagine a factory floor, choose the sounds and challenges your drone must investigate, and decide how competitors will navigate the environment, collect acoustic data and complete their task. You will design the rules, scoring system, safety procedures and competition setup.

But there is a catch: **the drone itself makes noise.** Can you design a mission where the drone can collect useful measurements without its own sound interfering with the results? Your solution must also be safe, affordable, repeatable and realistic enough to work in a real competition.

You will not just present an idea - you will prove it. Build a simulation, digital model, animation, experiment or interactive demonstration showing that your mission could actually work.

Along the way, you will combine robotics, UAV technology, acoustics, programming, engineering and creative problem-solving while collaborating with students from different countries.

During a previous challenge (VESACCO) followed by internships in which students worked on the needs analysis and prototyping of a ‘health véli’, the students validated algorithms linking the electric assistance of the vélis to the users' heart rates.

In this challenge, with the support of the challenge provider, the University Hospital of Toulouse, you will also study the influence of physical activity on mental health.

Several vélis on the INSA campus are now ready for testing with volunteer patients, and the influence on their physical as well as their mental health will be surveyed. As mentioned, you will also work on the specific case of the 4-year-old child with specific needs.

You will conduct these surveys in cooperation with prescribers (doctors, physiotherapists, etc.) and patients (potential users) in order to refine the needs analysis and propose modifications to existing vélis to adapt them for use in the health sector.

However, before beginning this work on the challenge itself, work on interculturality will be carried out at the beginning of the course (defining one's strengths and weaknesses in the intercultural field and areas for improvement by establishing one's intercultural profile, tutorials on interculturality with theories and the Iceberg model) in order to facilitate cooperation between students with different profiles.

At the end of the challenge, each international student team will formulate proposals for adapting existing velis for use in the health sector. You will develop ideas to have velis recognised as a medical device for combating sedentary lifestyles, for using velis as a means of rehabilitation and for promoting mental health.

With your group, you will give presentations on the main results of your surveys and analyses in front of a jury and you will present your results in a report.  What is more… You can follow the challenge in Spanish or German if you wish!

Rethinking the Engineer

A Personal, Cultural, and Critical Exploration for Future Engineers

Codes of ethics and research integrity frameworks are designed to promote trust, guide professional conduct, and ensure the quality and credibility of results. They help create confidence among citizens, institutions, and society at large. However, breaches of these frameworks not only occur—they're becoming more frequent, yet harder to identify, in a world marked by complexity, crisis, and the rapid spread of information across diverse and sometimes unreliable channels.

Misconduct can take many forms, and its motivations vary widely. In some cases, ethical lapses arise from ignorance or pressure; in others, from deliberate manipulation or blurred boundaries. Whatever the cause, navigating these situations requires more than just knowledge of the rules. It requires the ability to reflect critically, to connect actions with consequences, and to develop a personal ethical perspective that is both informed and resilient.

In this challenge, you’ll investigate real and hypothetical cases of misconduct, learn from experts in different fields, and begin to build your own framework for ethical reasoning—one that can guide your professional choices in an increasingly uncertain world. You'll work with IRAFPA (Institut de Recherche et d’Action sur la Fraude et le Plagiat Académiques), a French nonprofit organisation, to create a deliverable that will have an impact on young professionals currently working in the field.

But what that deliverable is will be up to you! Guided by your teamcher, you'll design and craft an output that you think will best serve early-career workers regarding their own professional and research ethics at a crucial moment in their fledgling careers. Put your ideas into practice by helping IRAFPA develop clear, compelling messages that resonate with young professionals navigating today's complex world.

Factories can no longer just automate tasks to create economic profits; they are required to **put people, planet, and purpose at the center of development**.  Factories are moving beyond automation toward human-centric, resilient, and sustainable Industry 5.0 systems. As AI becomes embedded in production and decision-making, this micromodule asks **who benefits**, **who decides**, and **how innovation can be smart, responsible, and sustainable**. These questions shape the future of work, environmental responsibility, and public trust in technology.

Through real industrial and business scenarios, you will explore the transition from Industry 4.0 to 5.0 and examine the opportunities, tensions, and ethical challenges it creates. The course introduces **key frameworks guiding responsible AI**, including the EU High-Level Expert Group guidelines, the AI Act’s risk-based approach, and GDPR. **Case discussions** and **an applied project** help you evaluate AI-driven innovation through a stakeholder-value lens: not only whether something can be built, but whether it should be built, and for whom.

The micromodule also examines **how sustainability, AI, and Industry 5.0 reshape business strategies and innovation**. Sustainability is approached as economic, social, and environmental responsibility, supported by systems change, stakeholder collaboration, and long-term value creation. You will learn how digital technologies, dynamic capabilities, circular innovation, human-centric manufacturing, and GenAI-enabled product development contribute to sustainable industrial transformation. The course also contrasts linear business models with sustainable and circular business modelling approaches.

By the end, you will be able to **think critically about industrial AI beyond the technical layer**, **identify ethical blind spots**, **weigh competing interests**, and propose solutions that are innovative, responsible, sustainable, and future-ready.

Sustainable Innovation in Industry 5.0

In the Era of AI

Travel is more than just moving from point A to point B; it is a gateway to discovery, connection, and growth. However, in an era of climate urgency and social disparity, the way we explore our world must be fundamentally reinvented. Traditional transport systems and tourism models face a double challenge: they must drastically reduce their carbon footprint while becoming truly accessible to everyone, regardless of physical ability, age, or economic background.

This is where our challenge comes in. Stepping into the role of creative engineers, students will collaborate with local stakeholders to develop innovative solutions for "Inclusive & Sustainable Ways to Travel." How can we design seamless travel experiences that allow people with mobility restrictions or sensory impairments to travel with dignity? How can a city ensure that green mobility reaches all its citizens, making low-carbon travel the most attractive and affordable option? How can we reduce the environmental impact of tourism while preserving the beauty of our destinations?

Over just a few days, student teams will tackle these critical questions, combining creativity, technology, and user-centered design to develop concrete, practical solutions. Their work will not only offer fresh perspectives but also provide actionable strategies for local decision-makers.
