Our Challenge

Every field—whether scientific, technical, legal, social, or creative—is now shaped by the rapid digitalization of society. The spread of fragmented information, the influence of social media, and the politicization of facts all challenge notions of evidence and what is considered common knowledge. This has a profound impact on how we define and apply ethics. In this new context, traditional frameworks like codes of ethics, deontology, and scientific integrity are under increasing pressure. Misconduct is harder to detect, and professional responsibility is becoming more complex. It is therefore important for all students to build their own individual approach to ethics to be used in their future professional roles. This challenge invites you to critically examine the role of ethics and integrity in your own field. You’ll explore how values are shaped, distorted, or defended in today’s changing world, and begin to construct your own reflective and adaptable approach to ethical decision-making. Through real-world case studies, expert insights, and interactive activities, you’ll gain the tools to evaluate the consequences of actions, contributing to a more responsible professional culture by creating your own personalised individual framework that responds to a complex and worrying global context.
