Everybody has heard about green mobility, but replacing physiotherapy by biking? Our idea is to combine green mobility with smart e-bike and health sensors allowing to do exercises prescribed by a doctor. This could be an energy and cost efficient solution to excessive sedentary, one of the worst chronic diseases for humans. Because we are the only living species able to use "transports", we spend lot of time in seated position even when we travel over longer distances. Smart E-bikes with some basic monitoring have already been tested and are available at the LAAS-CNRS, one of the INSA Toulouse labs, but we'd like to go further in this challenge and design the "smart e-bike for your health" of the future. Come and join us for this adventure. We will combine work on green mobility with the smart e-bike design, do market studies and prototype the new bike. During an (optional) mobility week in week 4, you can meet the partners of your international team and visit labs and the university hospital and meet the challenge provider.
These are the teamchers you'll work with on the challenge.
By the end of this challenge, students will be able to test and evaluate the effectiveness of medical devices, as well as compare the impact that existing smart e-bike solutions have on health and well-being.
By the end of this challenge, students will be able to design, prototype, and test innovative green travel solutions combined with physiotherapy treatment.
By the end of this challenge, students will be able to test smart e-bikes on volunteers concerning the cardiac and respiratory functions and work on the "sport on prescription" concept.
By the end of this challenge, students will be able to integrate an interdisciplinary and international team and present the methodology used and the main results in English.
