Transform the training of trainers in the field of digital health in the Global South to make it more efficient and sustainable

Our challenge

Want to make an impact on health care in the Global South? Help us to transform the training of trainers in the field of digital health in the Global South to make it more efficient and sustainable and help multiplying healthcare. Training in health care in the Global South is often carried out on site. This implies transporting the trainers to be trained over sometimes thousands of kilometres. This is neither economical, nor ecological! But how can we transform these trainings to reduce the carbon footprint and lower the costs without loosing the efficiency of it? Come and join us to work in international teams to answer this exciting question by testing innovative teaching tools that has until now been reserved for a limited audience, like Virtual Reality environments and conceive a first POC (proof of concept).

Learning outcomes

Imagine the concept of a digital health training course

The training of trainers in the health sector needs to be more and more digitalised. The students will have learned how to conceive a concept of a health training integrating economical, ecological and digital aspects. These concepts will be partly or completely digitalised and can integrate new technologies like VR.

ESCO SKILLS

Produce a simple income statement for a training course

ESCO SKILLS

Calculate costs of a training course

The healthcare training in the Global South needs to be more efficient, but to multiply the trainings, it also needs to be cost effective. Learn to make a little profit and loss account to justify your concept.

ESCO SKILLS

Carry out a simplified LCA of a training course

What is the impact on the environment from “cradle to grave” of you concept? At the end of the course you will have an undestanding how to make a simple life cycle assessment of your concept.

ESCO SKILLS

Practical notions of virtual reality

The different solutions of training concepts also include virtual reality. Wether it will be in a “cave” (3dimensional learning environment), a hard or cardboard VR headset or another tool, you will be able to test it.

ESCO SKILLS

Scanning a 3D object

Ever used a 3D scanner? This is fun and can be useful for your future career to know how to scan an object in 3 dimensions. Learn how to use this 3D scanner, on site or online with your group.

ESCO SKILLS

Present results in a foreign language

The group work and presentations will be carried out in English. But in a lot of countries, other languages are spoken. Translate and present your concept in other languages you master.

ESCO SKILLS

Producing work in English as part of an international team

The challenge provider, the Pierre Fabre foundation, is interested in the outcomes of your work. You will, as an international team, present the work in Toulouse to the challenge provider (make sure your university allows and finances a short term mobility).

Information

This minor module is offered in conjunction with a digital health research project in which INSA Toulouse is involved.

This project, based on digital health training, will use innovative teaching tools to disseminate teaching that has until now been reserved for a limited audience.

INSA Toulouse's objective is to design and make available to students in scientific disciplines (Bachelor's, Master's, Engineer's), in health disciplines, and then to the general public, digital health acculturation courses using digital and virtual reality technologies.
We would like the students to answer the question: "How to transform the training of trainers and "resource persons" in the field of digital health in the countries of the Global South to make it more efficient and sustainable?".

> Students will be required to work in English in interdisciplinary teams
