Energy requirements of transportation modes

Analyze and evaluate the energy requirements of different transportation modes, assessing their environmental impact in terms of greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution.

ESCO SKILLS

Understand the current dependence on fossil fuels in various modes of transportation.

Be able to make a comparative analysis of fossil fuel consumption with other alternative energy sources for each mode.

ESCO SKILLS

Attain proficiency in sustainable energy sources for optimal transportation power solutions.

Acquire knowledge about available sustainable energy sources to meet the specific energy and power requirements of the most commonly used transportation systems.

ESCO SKILLS

Make informed decisions that promote sustainable practices.

Identify technologies capable of carrying the necessary energy and power for transportation, such as electricity, hydrogen, and biofuels, while considering their limitations in terms of land use and material accessibility. Use this knowledge to make informed decisions that promote sustainable practices.

ESCO SKILLS

State of the art of sustainable modes of transportation.

Stay updated on research advancements and initiatives aimed at mitigating the environmental impact of transportation, evaluate the level of implementation of these initiatives, and make informed decisions about more sustainable transportation practices to minimize the global impact on the planet.

Information

Energy has become an increasingly important factor in recent years. We have transitioned from a world where energy was cheap and readily available to one where it is becoming more difficult to obtain. Furthermore, energy consumption has dramatic consequences for the environment, as its use leads to an increase in CO2 concentration and subsequently, global warming. Understanding this factor and being able to manage it quantitatively is becoming increasingly necessary for the next generation.

In this course, we will be studyingtransportation and analyzing it in terms of energy. We will learn how to calculate the impact of our transportation systemsin terms of energy, and explore the best strategies to reduce their impact.
