This course offers students the opportunity to gain knowledge of solar energy, solar cells, solar fuels, and artificial photosynthesis. Part of the course consists of typical lectures and the other part of the course will be resolving a challenge as part of a team provided by Liquid Sun (https://www.liquidsun.co/). The challenge is done completely online and there is no on-site studying.

The student will be able to analyze the environmental aspects of solar energy-driven applications.
The student will be able to describe the present energy scenario and explain the need for energy conversion and storage.
The student will be able to outline the fundamental principles of solar energy conversion.
The student will be able to list and explain the various technologies that are used to harness the potential of solar energy (e.g., photovoltaics, solar fuels, storage).
The student will be able to explain the function of on the individual components involved in the utilization of solar energy with a focus on the chemistry of the materials.
