Description

Are you curious about how cutting-edge technology is transforming manufacturing? This micromodule will introduce you to smart machining and the power of the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and multi-agent systems. You will learn how to predict, monitor and analyse machining data in order to reduce energy use, boost productivity and improve process resilience — all of which are key challenges in today's industrial world. Through real-world examples and practical exercises, you will learn how CNC machines generate valuable data. and how add-on sensors can enhance that data to feed integrated intelligent systems. In this micromodule, you will explore how machining systems work, which types of process data matter and how to gather and connect that data. You will watch short videos, read targeted materials and complete engaging assignments to build a strong foundation in smart machining technologies. This micromodule is part of a five-part learning pathway hosted by two ECIU universities. This micromodule is the first element and will be followed by a challenge, both hosted by INSA Toulouse. Subsequent modules will be developed and delivered by the University of Trento. By the end of this learning pathway, you will understand how to perform data fusion in a multi-agent system database, analyse its statistics, and integrate AI tools into machining data. You will learn how to generate key performance indicators and use detection and classification techniques to support more efficient and resilient manufacturing systems.
