## The Challenge

Learners will work together to acquire skills and competencies related to the physiopathological basis of the reproductive system, infertility, and influence of lifestyle on reproductive health. The ultimate goal is to integrate and apply this knowledge in identifying and solving real problems in the area through the implementation of multicultural working groups. During this challenge, priority will be given to innovative and experimental teaching models, such as challenge-based in a blended learning approach that combines virtual and face-to-face mobility

## Impact

The participants will develop cross-cutting and transdisciplinary knowledge in reproductive health lifestyle. This challenge will also promote new forms of international mobility that allow an increase in the number of individuals with an international mobility experience in higher education, while also promoting collaborative and cooperative work skills through the experience of active teaching and learning methodologies. This intensive blended program is aligned with the strategic development plan of the Department of Medical Sciences, within the scope of its internationalization policy, as well as with the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations, namely for Good Health and Well-being (Goal 3), Quality Education (Goal 4), Gender Equality (Goal 5), and Reduced Inequalities (Goal 10).

This Micro Module will give you tools and techniques in the field of digitalization of the industry (Industry 4.0), dealing especially with artificial intelligence. Learn data science underlying concepts, learn the most frequently used techniques for information and knowledge extraction from big data.  The course includes 18 contact hours and 81 working hours.  
  
Our methodology is focused into “learning by doing” in which lab work will involve solving problems with some level of complexity, such as handwritten digit recognition, emotion recognition from images, image compression, etc. Learners will work in teams and will be guided by an instructor. The implementation programming language is Python (expecting that the students have learned it before). The lab work is strengthened by a rich variety of projects: medical data such as skin cancer detection from dermoscopic images; web data, financial and marketing applications, etc. The students are encouraged to propose project topics, validated by the instructor.

Nowadays, the community in general, recognizes the value and contribution that ethics represents for its sustainability. Identifying and applying the steps of an ethical decision-making process becomes thus central to any business model and may add value to the community where it operates. So, the ethical approach in business and community becomes a current issue, not only in theory but above all in practice. A company's ethical decision process consists of choosing one of several possible actions or policies, seeking widespread recognition and consent, and then advising decision makers to take a particular course of action. All these steps should be applied when thinking about how you can contribute to community sustainability. Therefore, there is a need to make ethical decisions when there are moral dilemmas and most of these dilemmas arise in organizations' relationships with other stakeholders, including the community in general, as they must face various situations that test ethical principles. The ethical dilemma occurs when a person must choose a possible course of action, but with respect for standard ethics. Ethical dilemmas arise in the first place when reporting the organization's economic and social performance, a particularly sensitive situation, especially in conditions of lack of comprehensive information that can create a global image of the state of the economy and the organization's responsibility. The micro-module will introduce ethics and how to make an ethical decision to contribute on improving the community sustainability. What is an ethical decision? Will be pay the efforts? The course ​​Portuguese as a Foreign Language (European Portuguese) – proficiency level A1, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for languages (CEFR) –, reflects the daily lives of the Portuguese and focuses, in particular, on the reality of the Aveiro region.  Each bloc of study, which is worth 3 ECTS each, is divided into 5 autonomous but interrelated didactic segments, traversing a narrative where the paths of 2 Portuguese families intersect. The modules are composed of authentic materials: starting from a video – which is the fragment of a sequential narrative –, the intended functional, linguistic (in its components: oral comprehension and expression, written comprehension and expression) and cultural skills are exposed.

Taking advantage of the relevance of Biometrics for technological advancement and digital transformation of the industrial sector, this micro-credential aims to qualify graduates for the implementation and use of biometrics systems in their various applications.
