This challenge will put you in the shoes of engineers working in a creative design office who create products in response to briefs given by local industrial players. You will be divided into multi-disciplinary teams competing to address a topical issue. At the end of in-person sessions, you'll present your project to a panel of experts and be eligible for an entrepreneurship prize (usually access to a pre-incubation pathway).

The theme for this challenge is “Together on every pitch”, echoing France's hosting of the Olympic Games in 2024. There are three main themes, each associated with a challenge provider:

- Sport Tourism & Territory (Mission Bassin Minier)
- Corporate sport (Toyota motors - Toyotomi)
- Sport for all (Decathlon)

During the in-person week of the challenge, you will follow the schedule below:

- Day 1 - At the start of the challenge, you will interact and conduct interviews with professionals, users and stakeholders. You will gather as much information as possible to contribute to your creative process.
- Day 2-3 - As a team, you will then define your target, the specifications and the objectives of your innovative project, using the design thinking methodology.
- Days 3-4 - You will then  propose a preliminary project and convince people of its relevance and feasibility by providing original technical solutions (supported by a prototype, mock-ups, a budget, etc.)
- Day 5- Each team will present its innovative project to a panel of experts.

The 6th and most recent **report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is unequivocal on human responsibility for global warming** and the **urgent need to act**.  
Its detailed assessments of the state of scientific knowledge on climate change, its causes, potential repercussions and coping strategies call for **a rapid response** **to limit the consequences of global warming**.  
  
We therefore need to give our citizens the keys to **understand these major social issues**, in which scientific and technical questions are essential. As voters, as participants in the debate, as players in collective life, they need to be able to distinguish between beliefs, convictions, opinions and proven facts, to distinguish between what we know and what we don't know, to be aware of possible solutions and innovations, in order to make the right decisions and set in motion the transitions we all need to make. An energy and ecological transition is an environmental necessity if we are to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.  
  
**The project**  
To reach new audiences, and young people in particular, **we need to reach out to them** and move away from dedicated venues that often only attract audiences who are already aware of the issues. We therefore propose to create an**itinerant "*Boutique des transitions*":** a nomadic place of education, training and learning which will present the subjects linked to transitions in an attractive, participative and original way, but always clear and understandable, without oversimplification.The stakes are high in the face of current challenges relating to the environment, energy, natural and agricultural resources, medicine and the digital transition.  
  
To achieve this, we propose to **use an animation semi-trailer** that has already proved its worth during a 4-year tour of over 60 regional towns, for the *Boutique des Transitions*, and to take over town centers and neighborhoods for a week, creating a buzz and deploying a series of animations, workshops, debates and exhibitions for different audiences on the theme of transitions  

The aim of the challenge is to **design objects or uses for this boutique and the associated mediation scenarios**.

The challenge aims to **set up the key points in a frugal construction project**, from design to implementation.

It’s divided into **3 parts involving :**

1. studying documents and attending lectures on bioclimatic design, eco-materials and energy,
2. autonomous group work and in-depth study of a chosen topic,
3. concrete contact with the material through on-site participation in a school building site in west of France, producing a draft of a construction project.

The ECIU participants must sign up for the three phases of the project, and they will **work in teams** with **students from INSA Rennes**and **students from Brittany’s national architecture High School (ENSAB)**.

This minor module is offered in conjunction with a digital health research project in which INSA Toulouse is involved.

This project, based on digital health training, will use innovative teaching tools to disseminate teaching that has until now been reserved for a limited audience.

INSA Toulouse's objective is to design and make available to students in scientific disciplines (Bachelor's, Master's, Engineer's), in health disciplines, and then to the general public, digital health acculturation courses using digital and virtual reality technologies.  
We would like the students to answer the question: **"How to transform the training of trainers and "resource persons" in the field of digital health in the countries of the Global South to make it more efficient and sustainable?**".

This micromodule is directly linked to the MINATO Summer School, taking place in Toulouse in summer 2024, which will introduce you to micro and nano fabrication techniques with a hands-on interdisciplinary approach that alternates basic lectures with experimental activities. Micro and Nano-fabrication tools for innovating applied electronics and fundamental research

The aim of this module is to get students working on the themes of Sustainable Development Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities) through an interdisciplinary approach combining Science & Technology and Human and Social Sciences, using the Challenge Based Learning format developed by ECIUn+

At the end of this module, the student will have understood and be able to explain (main concepts):

- The main principle of SDG 11 is about making cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable.
- The added value of working in and leading a multidisciplinary and multicultural team.
- Learners will influence the learning outcomes they achieve by setting their own learning objectives and forming their own challenges. In addition to learners’ individual learning outcomes, we have listed certain learning outcomes that will be common to all of those who complete the course by applying team learning methods and the design thinking process.

**Two major pre-information to be taken into account:**

- Applicants should know that this challenge is 3 ECTS
- Kick-off and first meeting are ONLINE but campus visit and meetings are **ON-SITE in Toulouse, France (W 13, May 27th-31st 2024). On-site is optional but will award 2 extra ECTS (3 ECTS for online part + 2 ECTS for on-site participation)**

**The content of the module is divided into three parts:**

- Methodological lessons - weeks 1 to 3
- A 10-week Challenge
- A final presentation and personal report on the learning experience (CBL approach)

- You always wanted to know **how to measure blood sugar** and **how to analyse the data**? In this micro-module, you will learn **how the sensors work**, **how to do a 3D scan** and **inject a 3D model** in a VR environment.

- Interested students can be equipped with a glucose sensor, measuring continuously their level of blood sugar and learn about the influence of food on the data.
